Chapel Worship

GATHERING

The Holy Spirit calls us together as the people of God.

CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS

Blessed be the holy Trinity,
☩ one God,
who creates, redeems, and sustains us
and all of creation.
Amen.

Silence is kept for reflection

To you, O God,
all hearts are open, to you all desires known.
We come to you, confessing our sins.
Forgive us in your mercy,
and remember us in your love.
Show us your ways;
teach us your paths;
and lead us in justice and truth,
for the sake of your goodness in Jesus Christ our Savior.
Amen.

By water and the Holy Spirit God gives you a new birth,
and through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ,
God forgives you all your sins.
The God of mercy and might
strengthen you in all goodness
and keep you in eternal life.
Amen.

GATHERING SONG

WORD – Isaiah 30:18-21

18 Nonetheless, the Lord is waiting to be merciful to you, and will rise up to show you compassion. The Lord is a God of justice; happy are all who wait for him. 19 People in Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. God will certainly be merciful to you. Hearing the sound of your outcry, God will answer you. 20 Though the Lord gives you the bread of distress and the water of oppression, your teacher will no longer hide, but you will see your teacher. 21 If you stray to the right or the left, you will hear a word that comes from behind you: “This is the way; walk in it.”

Reflection

HYMN OF THE DAY

CREED

I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ,
God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.*
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Into your wide embrace, O God,
we place all our prayers,
spoken and unspoken,
trusting that you will receive them
into your heart of mercy,
Jesus Christ, your son, our savior.
Amen.

LORD’S PRAYER

Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and forever.
Amen.
